Beachy Boho Inspired Wedding

This post has been a long time coming. It all started when my beautiful cousin, Michelle, and her fiancé, Tim, asked me to design their wedding invitation suite. Of course I said yes! Not only did they give me full reign on the design, but it was also going to be a destination wedding in Playa del Carmen, Mexico. How could I say no to that?!

The suite started with their save-the-dates, which were designed and delivered about a year and a half prior to the wedding. Since it was a destination wedding, we wanted to give guests plenty of time to make arrangements. These save-the-dates were showcased in my design portfolio during a bridal registry event at Pottery Barn earlier this year. And that's where I met Alyssa from Pacific Engagements.

Alyssa fell in love with the design and it sparked some inspiration to design a styled shoot around them. She quickly asked me if I would be interested in participating and I jumped at the chance. A styled shoot meant that this suite would be professionally photographed and showcased in a faux wedding. The date of the photoshoot and the date of final delivery on Michelle and Tim's invitation suite coincided perfectly.

Pacific Engagements did an amazing job curating the team of vendors to make this beachy boho inspired wedding a beautiful success. After weeks of design, planning and coordination around Michelle and Tim's real live wedding suite(!), we were ready to make some magic.

Remember those tiny driftwood pieces that I was hand lettering? They were for this shoot!

Our location was The Edgewater House near Gig Harbor, WA and the beach was full of it. Alyssa wanted to incorporate the driftwood somehow and asked me if I would hand letter little pieces for the escort cards. She then softened up the place settings with some delicate white linen provided by Gather. I think this may be my favorite part of the shoot.

The driftwood was also incorporated into the bar along with a bar sign designed around a signature cocktail for the couple. The name of the cocktail was inspired by Michelle's new last name! The Dosey Cove Cocktail.

Everything about this styled shoot makes me smile. The inspiration behind it. All of the hard work that went into making it happen. The incredible people I met along the way and the new relationships that formed. The talented team of vendors that saw the vision and made it come to life. The amazing work of Courtney Bowlden Photography that captured every single detail so beautifully. Everything.

And to the real Michelle and Tim(!)... look at what your wedding inspired! Thank you for letting us use your suite to style an amazing shoot. I can't wait to see the real thing in Playa del Carmen!
